Where is your favorite place to get a steak? I'll be there in May and I need to find a good steak place.

And I know most will say "Huh?"...but I like the Pantry in downtown. Their Beef Tenderloin is really good for the price..chased it down with their potatoes and cole slaw....I really like it there.

Their New York cut is great

- Mastro's
-The Galley (Santa Monica)
-Chez Jay (Santa Monica, it's a small dark bar so if setting is an issue skip it).

In the past years I have  fired both Ruth's Chris and Morton's as the $/qulity metric imploded.

I will grill you a better steak than anything you can get at Mastros or anywhere else....

But in all seriousness, I suggest the Mastros in PCH up north a few miles from where Sunset intersects the coast road....  MUCH better than the Bev Hills sister restaurant.  Both are pricey, of course, but the PCH joint is better food, better service, better accessibility....

So, if you won't come over to my place for a prime piece of meat AND a great steak, go with the PCH Mastros....

Agree, it's better then the BH location, food, view, and accessibility.

I left my services out of the recommends cuz I don't know this dude. That said I'm with you, I have a source for fantastic supplies to which I add a bit of Maldens salt and it's done. Another reason I fired old faves... I can do it better myself.

Maldon salt is a way to my heart- I have a bucket of it in my kitchen as I buy it in bulk.

website gallery photos, which were very nice . . . . no, actually VERY nice, could you clarify if you are looking for a steak that is naturally tender, or do you prefer one that has been tenderized by being beaten into submission?  Just curious.  Lol    BTW, nice photos.    Oops, I said that already.

Either way babe, I just beat it. Thanks for the compliment on my photos!

I love this place.  Great old school atmosphere and not badly priced.

For a modern, upscale setting BOA Steakhouse is good too.  Locations in WeHo on Sunset and and in Santa Monica.

Morton and CUT.
Less mentioned are Spago, chi SPACCA, and Carlito Gardel.
I had excellent steaks at these steakhouse.

Second person to mention chi SPACCA so I must go now! xx

Another vote for Taylor's In K-Town. Classic old school with reasonable prices.

Thank you! Although I'm probably not buying, so reasonable prices are not my consideration, my dear! xx

I've been to both Mastros and Mortons, multiple times.  Way, way over-priced and bleh.  Completely unimpressed.

LA Prime in the Westin Bonaventure is really good.

I wasn't too into Morton's my last time I went either except I'm a sucker for Brussel sprouts with bacon. Their asparagus was also not that great but they did not mess up my filet mignon thankfully. I like to support independent restaurants, anyway.

I am glad no one mentioned my go-to places, since  they are already packed:   Bandera in Brentwood;  Hillstone in Santa Monica,

any Houston's location and, South Beverly Grill in Beverly Hills. And, stay out of the Grill on the Alley in B. H. so I can get seated.

I like your reply as these are all new suggestions to me. Steak is such a good excuse for this New Yorker, now in the Bay, to explore different neighborhoods in LA. Thanks dear!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Flemings by El Segundo or at The Staples Center.

Someone already mentioned Musso & Frank, but I also like Pacific Dining Car and The Dresden in Los Feliz.
