I've never tried to crunch the numbers as you have done, but my gut feeling is that in order to be a successful SD you have to be at least moderately affluent. However you define the term. Imo that means zero debt other than a mortgage, above average income, and a solid net worth above $1mil. That level of affluence should allow you to easily spend some hundreds of dollars on each date without breaking the bank. But not thousands! It's true that there are ultra wealthy guys out there, the ones in the hundreds of millions, or even billions range.
