Maybe this will stop your incessant need to increase my property taxes

I'm sorry to out you mari, but you need to come forward and be honest for who you really are. You are not the athletic 3 on 3 b-ball player who also fancies himself as a connoisseur of fine wine and food. Mari is old. Mari is a very old philanderer. I will give you credit for attempting what we are all about to witness. I'm sorry that your screen time is limited to this.

"Blue" is a web based show starring Julia Stiles as a single mom and part time hooker. How appropriate for a site like TER. This is season 2 episode 4, and check out our own mari at the end... the 6.30 mark.

GaG...we may have to rethink Vegas w/mari. Do you have a spare defibrillator, just in case.

P.S. This is actually a good show with each episode only about 8 minutes long.

California Faces a New Quandary, Too Much Money

LOS ANGELES — After years of grueling battles over state budget deficits and spending cuts, California has a new challenge on its hand: too much money. An unexpected surplus is fueling an argument over how the state should respond to its turn of good fortune.

The amount is a matter of debate, but by any measure significant: between $1.2 billion, projected by Gov. Jerry Brown, and $4.4 billion, the estimate of the Legislature’s independent financial analyst. The surplus comes barely three years after the state was facing a deficit of close to $60 billion.

At first glance, the situation should be welcome news in a state overwhelmingly controlled by Democrats, who have spent much of their time slashing programs they support. After last November’s elections, the party has two-thirds majorities in the Assembly and the Senate, relegating Republicans almost completely to the sidelines.

Instead, the surplus has set off a debate about the durability of new revenues, and whether the money should be used to reverse some of the spending cuts or set aside to guard against the inevitable next economic downturn.

At least seven other states — among them Connecticut, Utah and Wisconsin — have reported budget surpluses in recent weeks, setting the stage for legislative battles that, if not as wrenching as the ones over cuts, promise to be no less pitched. Lawmakers are debating whether the new money should be used to restore programs cut during the recession, finance tax cuts or put into a rainy-day fund for future needs.

For property, we need relegate fiscal conservative idiots, actually; they cut taxes and give it the rich party, Republicans to the sidelines nationally.

I can’t wait Republicans on this board refuting every bit of it. Before you do, just try and look up when was the last time, a Republican Administration had a balance budget or a surplus.

Yes, I do understand, you are all averse and allergic to truth and reality. No, God did not create humans in 7 days.

The Democrats CUT spending!!! That was part of the fiscal success they have seen so far.

Obama got his tax increase, but refused to cut spending. That is why democrats on the Hill fail where they have seen success in California.

Fortunately for us, Obama screwed up when he suggested the sequester and it actually kicked in. LMAO!!

First they are comparing a 60 billion dollar defecit to a "projected" less than 5 billion dollar surplus.

I also thought that the state of California. Had an issue where they couldn't afford to pay retired state workers pensions.

Wasn’t Arnie a two term Republican Governator who fucked things up just like every fiscally conservative goo Republican

our markets are going skyward,  and it has nothing to do with what republicans or democrats are doing,  it is all being superficially imposed by "the Central Bank"

No, they are not skyrocketing, more like slow recovery

Heard that one before? Well, it is just applicable to any notion that California has "too much money" thanks to Gov Brown.

The poorly written NY Times article fails to acknowledge clearly  that this is simply a paper surplus calculated on the yearly budget, not the state's existing debt load. That debt load is the highest in the nation -$617 billion. Let me say that again, $617 BILLION - and some Californians want to spend this drop in the bucket on new social programs? WTF

And that debt figure does not even count the high speed California train to nowhere where (1) there is a serious question as to whether the feds can fund the $42 billion they promised pre-sequester and (2) that was only half the cost anyway, yet California has no existing funds to pay the balance. But they are going to start construction anyway. And them there is the Medicaid expansion of which California has to pay 10% in a few years. They don't have money for that either.

Sorry, until California faces reality and raises St. Croix's property tax, the state is going to slowly sink into bankruptcy like Stockton and other California municipalities.

GaGambler586 reads

but liars certainly figure.

I put about as much credence into this "surplus" as I do that raising St C property tax is going to fix what's wrong with California.

Simply giving the Government of California more money is not going to fix the problem any more than giving a junkie with a $1,000 a day habit a $1,500 a day stipend for him to maintain his drug habit and pay down the debt he has accrued since becoming a junkie. Is there any rational person that won't expect him to immediately have a $1,500 a day drug habit? This is the logic you are using when addressing California's fiscal problems.

When we change the California Constitution to permit a raise in St. Croix's property tax, we add a provision providing that the new funds can ONLY be used to pay down the debt.

Remember in 2003  Warren Buffett announced that he pays property taxes of $14,410, or 2.9 percent, on his $500,000 home in Omaha, Nebraska, but pays only $2,264, or 0.056 percent, on his $4 million home in California.  That is a $12,000 difference only only one guy. And 4 million in LA and S.F. will basically buy you a fixer –upper.  So many properties are worth substantially more than that.

Will the tax base flee the state if we raise taxes as you have predicted? Well, we can test that. Gov Brown just raised taxes this fall. Did we anyone leave? Only St. Croix and that was because there was a sale on men's hair care products in Arizona and he came back as soon as he loaded up.

Yet another reason why I should be Governor of California, or more preferably King.

GaGambler588 reads

you aren't trying to channel Laffy are you?

but at some point taxes will get so high that people and businesses will begin to flee the state, except of course the people that you want to target are most likely unable to flee because they would have to sell their property before leaving, and with a mass exodus property values would plummet.  Nice going there King Marikod.

and do you really believe that the pols in California would really keep their dick skinners off of the extra revenue? Just like Social Security has remained untouched, right? Sorry, but the answer to curing a spending problem is addressing the spending, not throwing billions of more dollars at a leaky ship without plugging the leaks first.

but at least Mari has finally landed a job as a porn star, I noticed they made him keep his clothes on, I guess even the internet has standards. lmao

As for the series, I've seen it advertised for some time now, with a rather average looking protagonist, as opposed to some glamour queen it looks realistic enough be watchable, unlike some of the other "hooker" shows that have been on cable the last few years.

Onto more serious subjects, I expect to have some time to kill in the next couple of weeks, want to try to make it down south? We need to get Mari down there while he still has enough strength to enjoy it.

It's actually a good series. I like it that each episode is basically one scene, and doesn't last longer than 10 minutes.

Re down south, I can't make it until early Sept, as I mentioned in my email a few weeks ago. Plus heading to the Pacific side sounds a whole lot better than staying in SJ. Now Vegas is always an option anytime.

GaGambler504 reads

since they built the new highway a couple of years ago, you can get to the beach in just over an hour from the San Jose airport.

While I much prefer Latin America to Las Vegas, I might be able to fit in a day or two there in the next couple of weeks. Maybe I can combine it with some business that could use some tending to in California.

I never vote for someone who looks like they probably won't live through their term!   ;)

P.S. St. Croix. You are one of the few that I open Youtube links to.   ;)

doesn't mean i'm old. Mattrade, Inicky, and I just need a place where we can discuss the um "needs" of the mature gentleman.

Fat maybe but I can still take you one- on- one any day, especially now now that I have a running prescription for oxy C for my knee. This stuff is really good but the doctor has impressed on me "no drinking" when I take one.

Never heard of "Blue" before. I'll have to check it out. In the meantime, we need to work out the mother of all bets for the Duke-UCLA game next fall. And I should get points since UCLA has every one back but Muhammad and that's addition by subtraction. (426 shots and 27 assists? are you kidding me? did he ever look to pass?); Duke lost its top three scorers and will be a freshman based team.

You'll give me Duke and 4, right?

St. Croix503 reads

Regarding "needs" for the mature gentlemen. What the hell does that mean? I assume you are referring to a "meeting" with a woman of the evening. Considering it's you, Inicky and Mattradd, let's stay with the basics. Basics would be oxygen, a defibrillator, chewable aspirin, gauze (there's going to be blood), baby wipes (just because), and someone to give you your last rites. Is that too Catholic? Inicky, since you don't do last rites, I'm thinking maybe a Jewish comedian. Mattradd, I'm thinking buddhism, mysticism. How about we just combine them into a Kabbala thing?

Oxy C, what in God's name is wrong with you? That shit is like morphine. What are you going to do at the 3 point line when you see 3 baskets. I guess just shoot for the one in the middle. Dude, just take an extra Advil like the rest of us. I wouldn't be surprised that you probably need a knee replacement.

I think I'll wait for the Vegas line before I propose any action. One of your freshman will be Jabari Parker. You've been sporting a "woody" ever since he signed with Duke.

And yes check out "Blue". Somehow I think you will go for Julia Stiles mom in the series played by Kathleen Quinlan.

Ya, Kabbala would do just fine; the more mysterious and esoteric the better, when it comes to scriptures, however I am drawn to the simplicity of Buddhist thought and ceremony.

I'm not in need of all the paraphernalia you mentioned, however going out of this world while engaged in strenuous sexual activity with no less than an 8/9 is my goal. And, I religiously and with great gusto participate in such activities.  Problem is that I enjoy it so much, I stay in great health so I can enjoy even more, and enjoy it longer! I don't even take any meds., not even for pain, like Mari. I call it a 'win, win!'   ;)

The acting and writing are terrible.  As for the old dude at 6:30, I dunno if he looks like Mari but he's no worse than guys I've seen at M&Gs.

GaGambler549 reads

and yes I think I've met that guy at a M&G, actually I think I've met the same guy at virtually every M&G I've been to.

The "too much money" ignores "unfunded liabilities."  The "surplus" is this year and may be based on a lot of taxes collected last year to avoid increased tax rates in 2013, so there will be less next year.

More importantly, that "surplus" does not count tens of billions of dollars that the state will owe on pensions.  They are liabilities like any other debt owed.  To pretend they don't exist will lead to Detroit
