No tax on clothing. The Mall of America is less than 10 minutes from the Airport.

You can watch the carjackings in Minneapolis -- best to do so from inside, lest you get mugged.  You can step over drug addicts at the light rail station on the line from the airport to downtown Minneapolis. You used to be able to grab an Uber or Lyft but Minneapolis just made them illegal so they are pulling out of Minnesota.

What a wonderful outlook on life !

Its great when Lester Prairie types dont come to Mpls because they think theyll be murdered or robbed in the first 10 minutes of their visit  (it nice not having hillbillies in your midst since theyre usually drunk and mean).  I live next to Mpls and travel thru it daily,  go to concerts, games and all manner of things downtown.  Never seen a car jacking, sure we got addicts but rural MN doesnt have crime or drug problems too? This whole narrative about Mpls has been  going on for decades.  BTW uber and lyft are not really present in rural MN so I dont know why this is a problem for people living in outstate. I will say that country people drink and drive like its not illegal.  Go to any little country bar and everyones wasted and driving.

Focusing on the Twin Cities here. There’s a lot more outstate.
.
Theater? The renowned Guthrie, and many others.
Music? Big concerts here all the time plus many local venues.
Art? Walker, Minneapolis Institute of Art, many others.
Sports? All the major men’s and women’s pro sports, B10 sports and more.
Food? Just about anything your heart may desire.
Outdoors? It ain’t called The Land of 10,000 Lakes for nothing! Take the Chain of Lakes bike tour, check out the Parkway (and Minnehaha Falls), walk/run/bike River Road along the Mississippi, cruise Lake Minnetonka, Como Park & Zoo (polar bears), Minnesota Zoo, lots of parks all around the Twin Cities.

I always recommend the House of Balls.. the Walker Art Center,  if you are flexable on when you will come visit,  check out what might be coming to First Avenue and see a concert there see where all those great scenes from Purple Rain were filmed.  as others have said,  the lakes and parks here are great, we have a bunch of great restaurants, we have a ton of theater.

...I'll give you a personal tour of one of our many beautiful, clean & clear lakes.  You can even play with my fishing pole!

Hi Queen,

I’m going to assume you’re not going to rent a car while you’re here — if that’s wrong then feel free to try all the things!

Downtown still really hasn’t recovered from COVID and downtown workplaces allowing more work-from-home (though some, including some in this thread, like to claim more sinister reasons). Still, there are some fine restaurants as well as the Fine Line music club and the Dakota Jazz club, in addition to the previously mentioned First Ave.

If you’re staying near the airport or near the Mall of America, there’s still some good eating to be had (my faves are the Twin City Grill and Masu Sushi), but the bigger draw will be shopping— there are more unique shops there than in any other comparably sized space within driving distance!.

There are other places to stay and other things to see — the state capital in downtown St. Paul is worth visiting, as is the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. Hopefully a generous local gentleman might be able to take you to see some of the farther afield sites around here.

Here’s hoping you visit, and have a wonderful time while doing so!
