Glad to see it, and thank you. Might help to call it Sac or Sacramento /CV regional forum.
Def not complaining, just clarifying the geography in case the administrators are not local.

I don't think there are mods so it doesn't matter if the higher ups don't know the specific geography. What problems do you foresee, people not knowing which cities are NOT actually part of the Valley? Just interested, not trying to start a beef, lol

He might be thinking (and I agree) that calling it Sacramento or Sac/CV would make it easier for people to find it and encourage more people to use it. Those who are migrating here from the other site are used to having a Sacramento forum and a separate CV forum, so they might not realize that CV is meant to include Sac. I'd say it's not too big of a deal either way, though. If anything's going to keep people away, it's the horrendous user interface and the fact that all posts are moderated.

That's only temporary. New members are moderated. If you consistently post and follow the posting guidelines without breaking rules, then you can ask to be unmoderated after a month or so of regular posting. Then your posts will go up instantly (unless you break some TER posting rule, then you can get moderated again). Many many internet forums (hobby and non hobby) moderate their new members so this is not at all unique to this site.

Good luck with your new regional board Hopefully it gets well used.

Ad boards are up too now!

I was going to point that out, the Captcha last a bit, then moderated a bit then if all goes well you are in so to speak. It is not a free for all which is nice, play fair and things go well.

It should have said "Not sure what you mean by the 'horrible user interface' but as far as moderation..."

I understand what you mean, it would be easier to have it set up by smaller area for suggestions who to see. Maybe it will change as time goes along and like Perfect Storm told me put it in the Suggestion area. It couldn't hurt to ask.

...mean by "horrendous user interface"? The various boards I'm on are much like this though some do bump threads to the top of the page when ever there is a reply.

I was referring to the way the threads are set up. I'm not looking to get into a debate here; I'll just say that for me personally, the overall design of the boards hurts my eyes and brain and makes me less inclined to post here, and I'm sure that some feel the same way, while apparently others disagree. To each his own. I intend to make the most of what we currently have at our disposal.

...so you can simply scroll down and read each subsequent post but you can't tell who is replying to who or what in that mode because the replies are in chronological order instead of ordered by who they are addressing. This means I could reply to someone near the beginning of the thread to form a discussion branch but in flat mode my reply would be at the bottom and appear to be addressing someone else completely. It gets confusing especially with long discussion threads.

It took me a while to get use to the "tree" mode but for a site as large as TER it is best.

edited for grammar

But that shouldn't have anything to do with this. There are no "board moderaters" the moderation is done by admin, and admin is not local to the area, (and most likely not even local to the USA) but not sure what that has to do with the name of this regional board.

I'm pretty sure most people that matter know that Sacramento IS part of the California Central Valley, and if not yhey will figure it out.

I am very impressed the TER is so responsive!!!!! This is pretty cool!

And I've been posting on this site for months, although not often. I didn't know you had to specifically ask to be unmoderated... Seems it would be automatic thing but I guess not. Or maybe I just don't post enough, IDK.

Use the "contact us" button on the bottom of the page and just ask. They will either unmoderate you or not. If not they will tell you why. (Either you need to post more, or you broke some posting rules.) I don't know their actual criteria but I am guessing someone who posts several posts daily for a month, will probably get unmoderated a lot faster than someone posting several posts per year.

So I asked to be unmoderated and was declined. They said I had 11 posts in the last 90 days and that wasn't enough. I'll admit it feels slightly insulting to be treated like a child who can't be trusted to follow the rules, but whatever, I guess that's how they do things around here.

Merced, Visalia, Bakersfield , Clovis.

My guess on the biggest hobby areas among the listed cities are Sacramento, Fresno, and Bakersfield

Conceiveably, all areas North of LA,  East of the Bay Area and West of the Sierras.

But typically the I-5 and 99 corridor from Bakersfield to Sacramento and surrounding areas.

Paso Robles, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo and over the hill to the beach cities of pismo, Avila, and Grover. These are the areas of booming economic growth and likely growing hobby opportunities.

They have added 3 new regional boards and ad boards. The CV, Gold Coast and Inland Empire. Not an expert but I would think the CV would be Bako to Sacramento on the 99, anything west along there to I5 and anything east to say the 395 along the mountains. Not so much familiar with the Gold Coast but perhaps everything west of I5 to the pacific from say south san francisco to around santa barbara. And the inland empire being everything along the Riverside south and up to Bako. But who cares really. Just nice to have a place to post and the ladies to post ads in these areas.

...and getting a little clarification for ladies like myself unfamiliar with California other than Los Angeles, the OC and San Francisco is helpful.

Let me know if you get over to the Northcoast, Humboldt County way. Anytime in the next few months. Just try to give me some advance notice.

Well there are three large counties on California's North Coast (also sometime referred to as the Redwood Coast).  You're taking about 4 hour north of Santa Rosa.  From here you can take 299 to Redding, or 199 up to Grants Pass, Medford  OR and on the Eugene Or.

SLO & Santa Barbara are 2 places I love to visit.  Pismo beach is a must see for all those who have never had the pleasure!

Since when are coastal cities part of the central valley?

Nice to see an area for members in the CV!

I thought I'd give the TER boards a try. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Just checking in glad to have the new CV forum
