Hi there! New in town and need all the recs for good food in my neighborhood. I love everything from diner food to tasting menus and no dietary restrictions here. I am so excited to try new places and find my personal favorites!

It’s not candle light and wine. But it has history.
The beef tenderloin is great, best cole slaw EVER!
If anything check it out.,,oh the breakfast is great.

Always had a nice meal at these two. Bottega Louie for brunch/lunch.

Too many to list, but two that pop into my mind right away are:

1) Philippe’s - the alleged inventor of the French dip sandwich - very old-school, lots of history

2) Perch - very nice rooftop seafood restaurant.

There’s lots more – will circle back when I have more time.

I worked downtown for 30 years Phiillepe's and Pantry are so overrated  Cafe Pinot by the library was my go to spot

Yes, it is, which is too bad, because I loved that place.

The old style counter is such a throw back and the food its sensational. The sandwiches are a little on the small side so get two or pair it with something else. Been there numerous times and its my fave LA sandwich shop with The Apple Pan been a very close second but T.A.P. is not downtown.

I was a regular at the location next to Agent Provocateur on Melrose (go figure!) but now they’re only open in DTLA.  Best steak with chimichurri & garlic fries.  The owner was always really nice, too.

Also known as El Tepeyac Cafe on Evergreen off Wabash. Burritos are to die for....Its not DTLA...but it's close.
A must try if you're from out of town.

Also check out the rooftop bar Broken Shaker at the hotel Freehand. Tacos 1986 are also a good option.

My favorite is Perch and Cara Cara. Both have spectacular view and so romantic during sunset.

I agree on Philippe’s. 👌. French dip sandwiches. If the Dodgers are in town, it’s a zoo.

If you’re looking for something casual but hip I would say Joey. For Italian I’d do Maccheroni and WaterGgrill for seafood….downtown doesn’t have the greatest options when it comes to dining imo better to take that 40 min drive to West Hollywood/Beverly Hills if you are in search of true ambiance or a really good steak
